Member Webinar: Microplastic Restrictions in Europe – What You Need to Know
Tuesday, July 7 – 9:30 – 11:00 am (EDT)
After over a year of debate, the European Chemicals Agency’s (ECHA) Committee on Risk Assessment (RAC) recently voted to formally adopt the European Annex XV Restriction Proposal for intentionally added microplastics – June 10, 2020. With this opinion, ECHA is now proceeding with formal publication of its Socio-Economic analysis regarding this proposal, which will be published shortly for consultation by the Committee on Socio-Economic Assessment (SEAC), whose opinion is expected to be formalized by the end of the year. These developments are pivotal opinions that will be taken into account as the European Commission and EU Member States consider the formal adoption of these restrictions by the European Parliament under their chemical management legislation (REACh).
Cosmetics Alliance, in collaboration with Cosmetics Europe (CE) will be hosting a free member webinar on July 7, 2020 to review these important developments. Building on our previous webinar “Microplastics Developments from Europe – A Changing Regulatory Landscape” (April 2019), we will once again be welcoming CE’s Director General, John Chave to provide a comprehensive update.
Hear first hand from our European colleague and understand what this recent opinion will mean for microplastics in the European context and the pressures that these developments may pose for key ingredients of interest:
- Scope of the restriction (what ingredients, implicating what products)
- Impact on biodegradable plastics and polymers
- Potential derogations and corresponding labelling and reporting considerations
- Possible exemptions (what’s out of scope)
- Implementation and coming into force timelines
- Next steps
Please note that this a member only event and there are limited spaces available.
